China’s Qingdao Huijington Power Equipment Company Ltd has won a deal to build a 33KiloVolts transmission line for Sri Lanka’s state-run Ceylon Electricity Board.
The deal is part of a 115 million US dollar grid improvement project funded by the Asian Development Bank, the state information office said.
The cabinet of ministers had approved a proposal by Power Minister Ravi Karunanayake to award the construction contract to the Chinese firm.
The firm will build pillars and gantries for the 33kW transmission lines as part of package 4 of the ADB-funded project.
